Claudio Barbaste


Chef Claudio Barbaste

Executive Chef of the ultra-exclusive Residence Club at Ocean Reef (Key Largo, Fla.), Claudio Barbaste, formerly Sous Chef of the Residence Club, has an immense amount of creative freedom.

With over 15 years of culinary experience, Claudio Barbaste has built a distinguished career in both restaurant and hotel industries. He studied Culinary Arts and Gastronomy Administration at INACAP University in Santiago, Chile, before moving to Madrid in 2013. There, he worked at several notable restaurants before joining the five-star Mirasierra Madrid Hotel, marking his entry into the hospitality sector.

 

In 2016, Claudio had the unique opportunity to collaborate with renowned MasterChef Rich Rosendale, assisting in culinary classes and special events across the United States. In 2019, he relocated to South Florida, working alongside an award-winning team at Casa Mariano, one of the top-rated restaurants in South Florida. By 2021, Claudio returned to the hotel sector leaving the restaurant business to serve as Sous Chef at JW Marriott in Miami. It was during this time Chef Rosendale introduced him to Andrea Griffith.

 

Enticed by the opportunity to create something new, Claudio joined Andrea at the Residence Club. Together, they have crafted one of the most celebrated dining experiences within the Ocean Reef community. After two years of working alongside Andrea we are thrilled to provide Claudio the opportunity to step into the role of Head Chef at the Residence Club. We look forward to many exciting culinary experiences he will create for our owners and members in the year ahead. Claudio’s dedication and passion for exceptional cuisine have earned him high praise from both residents and members during his two years with the Residence club.
